The 9 numbers every fashion brand dashboard needs

Not every metric deserves a place on the screen. These nine run the business.

A dashboard isn't useful because it has a lot of charts. It's useful when the numbers on it change what you do next. Start with these nine.

  • Revenue — daily, weekly and by launch
  • Orders — and how they split between new and returning customers
  • Average order value — and whether it's moving with your pricing
  • Conversion rate — by device and by traffic source
  • Customer acquisition cost (CAC) — by channel
  • Repeat-purchase rate — the share of customers who come back
  • Sell-through — by launch and by size
  • Stock cover — how long current stock will last at today's pace
  • Return rate — by product, with reasons

Definitions matter more than charts

Write down exactly how each number is calculated, and where it comes from. Half the arguments in growing teams are about which revenue figure is right.

Automate it

If a person has to build the report, it'll be late and eventually skipped. Connect the sources once, and let it update itself.
